A three-year-old girl, who had gone missing from her house in Dindoshi on February 17, was found on a platform of Goregaon railway station. The police believe the girl was kidnapped when her mother had left the girl and her 11-month-old sister at home before stepping out. The Dindoshi police is probing the case and suspects a close relative’s involvement in the kidnapping.
The police is checking the CCTV footage of the station to check who left the girl there. A police source informed The Asian Age that the mother of the girl was changing her statement frequently and was a suspect too.
According to police sources, the father of the girl is a daily wage labourer and had left for work on Wednesday, The mother, who is a housemaid, was at home. Later, at about 11.30 am, she left from the house to pick up their five-year-old son from school and locked the main gate of her house from outside. When she returned home, she found the lock and the door broken. The mother found the three-year-old girl missing and immediately rushed to the police station to file a complaint.
The police officials started a search operation and circulated the picture of the girl to all police stations in the city.
On the same evening, officials got an input that the girl was intercepted at a platform of Goregaon railway station. Later, officials went there and found the girl. “A medical test was conducted on the girl and the reports are fine. She is running a low fever, but luckily nothing untoward happened to her,” said a senior officer.
According to police sources, the place from where the girl got kidnapped is tiny and no outsider can enter it easily. So they are suspecting the hand of relatives. “Our probe is on and we believe at least two people were involved in the crime. We are searching for them, and only then can we draw any conclusions on the role of the mother,” they said.
