A minor girl was gangraped by eight men in Tadelgaon-Tikhi village of Dhule taluka. While the incident occurred on September 24, the case was filed Monday evening in the Mohadi police station. Of the eight accused who had gangraped the girl, six have been arrested, while two are reported to be absconding. According to police sources, the victim’s alleged lover, Nanu alias Umesh Vishnu Kangude, took her out saying that they were going to meet his relatives. “He told her that they were going to visit some relatives, and took her to the Tikhi talav instead and raped her. The entire scene was being videographed by Nanu’s friends, who had hidden near the lake as per their plans. After he was finished, three others joined in and raped the girl,” sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) deputy SP, Chandrakant Gavli, said. The police further said that four other persons, who had witnessed the incident from a distance, used a tractor to reach the spot and raped the girl as well, who had fallen unconscious by then. However, some time later, a couple that was passing by that route stopped and pelted stones at the eight men, who then fled from the spot. The eight accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, Atrocity Act and Information and IT Act. Meanwhile, the six arrested accused have been remanded to police custody till October 3, 2013. Kangude and Rahul Bhaskar Gawde have been arrested, while his brothers Mahesh Gawde and Raju Gawde are absconding. The other four accused who came to the spot on a tractor, have also been arrested. They have been identified as Santosh Rohidas Borse (26), Eknath Ramdas Pawar (28), Chander Eknath More (22) and Dharma Bhagwan Ahire (23), all of them are residents of Indiranagar Bhilati at Ranmala in Dhule tehsil. The four men on the tractor had earlier looted a tollbooth in Dhule and were hiding in the stone mines near the lake when they saw the girl being raped. They then used the tractor to reach the spot and raped her, the police said. Mr Gavli further said that the rape was planned in advance.
