A 12-year-old boy was allegedly raped by his class teacher at knife-point at the latter’s house near Bhiwandi on Saturday afternoon.
The teacher, identified as a Naushad Ali Shaha (21), has been teaching Arabic to students in his area for the past seven months.
The victim was also a student of Naushad’s for the last one month and would go to his place twice a week. According to the complaint lodged by the victim’s father, the boy was playing near his house in Bhiwandi village. He was alone and his friends had gone home for lunch. Naushad then approached the boy and told that he had an imported kit of cricket bats and invited him to play near his house. The boy without informing his family members went to Naushad’s house around 2 pm.
The police said the boy was taken to a room by the accused and then raped at knife-point. Naushad had threatened to kill him if he revealed the incident to anyone, the father alleged. The traumatised victim’s wails alerted the local people who arrived at the spot and nabbed the teacher. He was beaten up by the angry people before being handed over to the police.
The accused has been arrested and booked under Indian Penal Code Sections 377 (unnatural offences) and 506 (criminal intimidation) and POCSO Act, circle officer Yogenderpal Singh said. The victim was sent for a medical examination.
“We have a doubt that the accused might have molested some other class students too. His friends told us the same. We are now interrogating the other students in his class,” said a police official.
Naushad had learnt Arabic last year, as he wanted to shift to another country for work.
However, police officials said his plan to shift out of India failed after which he took to teaching Arabic to earn money.
