The body of a shop owner was found in his Dhobhi Talao residence on Wednesday.

The body of a shop owner was found in his Dhobhi Talao residence on Wednesday. The Azad Maidan police suspects that the man, Baburao Raoria (39), was strangled to death by an acquaintance, and it is on the lookout for the accused, who is said to be hiding in Madhya Pradesh.

According to police officers, Raoria’s neighbour found his body on the floor of his home, and the police were called around 11.30 am.

Speaking about the case, an official said, “We reached the spot immediately and took Baburao to GT Hospital where he was declared dead before admission.”

“His house was in a mess. During the post-mortem, the doctor told us that he was strangled to death with a cloth. While investigating the case, we learnt of a person who had visited Raoria on Tuesday night. It seems that Raoria had known the accused for the past few months. No valuables were stolen from the house,” the official further added.

Baburao was living alone. He had recently started a photocopying shop, which was a success. His wife and a child hadn’t been living with him for some time.

DCP Manojkumar Sharma said, “Our team is investigating the case thoroughly. We will arrest the accused soon. We have registered case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code.”
