Leading Marathi artistes, Pankaj Vishnu, Abhijit Kelkar and scores of families from Mumbai joined the Mitra Foundation’s fourth successive Diwali celebrations at Awarpada, a tribal village near Dahanu, 120 km from the metropolis. On this occasion, the tribal children were provided with Diwali delicacies and fire-crackers and were given new clothes too. Mitra Foundation donated a computer to the tribal village, Wankas along with a set of table and chairs for the benefit of tribals. The foundation will also launch a computer training programme for the village youth to impart basic computer knowledge. “This is our endeavour aimed at creating computer awareness and improving tribal children’s skill sets so that they can find employment opportunities in DTP. This is our humble effort towards a Digital India Campaign”, said Keshav Upadhye, the chairman of Mitra Foundation. Pankaj Vishnu, who celebrated Diwali with tribal children, said, “I feel touched by the sheer joy on the faces of these children.”
