The Pune-based Maple Group in a statement released on Saturday apologised to the state and Central government, claiming that there was serious confusion that, according to the group, had caused inconvenience due to wrong perception of their advertisement.
The group is accused of aggressively publishing advertisements in newspapers promising a 1BHK apartment for Rs 5 lakh under the Centre’s Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) without the consent of the authorities.
The developer had also published the advertisements in newspapers and has also used the picture of PM Narendra Modi and the CM in the advertisements.
Clarifying on the issue, the group in its statement said, “We sincerely apologise to the PM, CM and all the applicants who had to face inconvenience due the wrong perception of its advertisement.” The statement claimed that under PMAY there is a scheme of Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme.
It claimed, “the advertisement is an initiative of the group in terms of branding Maple Shelters and also explaining people that who all are eligible under PMAY and after they apply for the same they can be availing the scheme. (sic)”
After the advertisement went viral, PMAY state mission director, Nirmal Deshmukh, had written to the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority to take legal and criminal action against the developer.
