Man molests minor girl in public toilet
A 28-year-old man has been arrested for kidnapping and molesting a seven-year-old girl in a public toilet at Worli.
The incident occurred on March 3 when the girl went to a public toilet next to her tuition classes. The accused, who was present in the vicinity, saw her alone and forcibly touched her private parts. Investigators said that he also rubbed his genitals against the girl.
Terrified, the girl started screaming and somehow escaped from the accused’s clutches and ran all the way home. Her mother asked her why she was crying and came to know the sordid details when her daughter narrated the experience. The parents then approached Worli Police Station and lodged a complaint.
Police officials started investigating but could not find the accused.
Simultaneously, crime branch unit 3 officials too started probing the case. After inquiring about the accused — one Peermohammed Vakil Abbasi (28), a Worli resident — they found that he was a regular in the area and located his whereabouts using his cell phone number.
Crime branch officials informed the police that Mr Abbasi was a daily wage labourer and had been loitering in the area when he saw the minor girl. On March 5, police officials received a tip-off that Mr Abbasi would be visiting a slum area in Worli.
They laid a trap and arrested him. He has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and remanded to police custody.
