Shekhar Chandrashekhar, who was arrested along with south Indian actress Leena Maria Paul in June 2015 for allegedly duping several people in a Ponzi scheme, was finally sent to the Arthur Road Jail early on Sunday morning after the police forcefully removed him from Rajawadi Hospital, where he was admitted for the past four months.
According to officials, Chandrashekhar was reluctant to go to jail and was admitted to Rajawadi Hospital. On Saturday night, the Tilak Nagar police forcefully took him to JJ Hospital and after doctors from JJ declared he was fit and fine, he was deported to jail again early in the morning.
An officer said, on the condition anonymity, “After instructions received from senior police officials, a team from the Tilak Nagar police station and one troop of State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) left for Rajawadi Hospital late in the evening on Saturday. We tried to take Chandrashekhar with us, but he was unwilling to come. Then after an hour he started complaining about chest pain. Some of the doctors started checking him and told us ‘don’t pressurise the patient’. However, then police requested the dean and then forcefully took Chandrashekhar from Rajawadi. Then the team went to JJ at midnight, where doctors did all the tests on Chandrashekhar. The doctors said he is perfectly all right, his blood pressure and all other tests are normal and he can leave. Early in the morning the police officers left him in Arthur Road Jail.”
IG, prison, Bipinkumar Singh said, “He was there in the hospital since past four months. Early on Sunday morning Chandrashekhar went back to jail. He was taken to JJ Hospital after he was taken from Rajawadi Hospital. In JJ, tests like chest CT scan and ECG were done, after which doctors from JJ Hospital told the police that he is all right.”
