The Bandra GRP arrested Dahisar resident Rohit Jayantilal Nandu (33) for harassing a 23-year-old partially-blind law student on a local train. Officials of the Bandra GRP said they were taking down Nandu’s statement and further inquiry in the case is on. The incident took place on December 22, and since then officials had been searching for the accused. According to GRP sources, to trace the accused, officials first went through CCTV camera footage, found the right still and later showed it to as many as 2,000 people. Earlier, on December 22, the complainant was standing at Khar railway station, when Nandu approached her and said, “Hi, I am Amit. I love you very much and I want to marry you. Please tell your parents or give me your address; I will speak to them.” The complainant responded that she did not know him, but Nandu allegedly kept pressuring her to accept his proposal, after which the complainant shouted for help. At this, the accused got off before the train started. Later, the student approached police.
According to an official, they found the picture of Nandu from CCTV footage, from where they could hear him mentioning a sweet shop in Malad, so they laid a trap there and deployed a few officials to nab him. Besides this, they started checking his mobile records from his CDR data. Officials then found his address from his mobile location and nabbed him around 4 pm on Monday.
