Man arrested for raping 11-year-old girl

The Kashimira police of Mira-Bhayander area has arrested a 34-year-old man for allegedly kidnapping and raping an 11-year-old girl.

The Kashimira police of Mira-Bhayander area has arrested a 34-year-old man for allegedly kidnapping and raping an 11-year-old girl. According to police sources, the mother of the victim and the accused were colleagues and on Wednesday the accused picked up the girl from her school and raped her in an empty building in the Mira Road area. The accused was produced in court on Friday and remanded in police custody till March 22.

According to a police official from Kashimira police station, the accused is a resident of Bhiwandi area and working in a private company in the Kashimira area. The mother of the victim also works in the same firm, he said.

The accused and the mother of the victim had become good friends; the girl also knew the accused as she had visited her mother’s work place several times, the official added.

The police said on Wednesday she had gone to school after which she went missing. The worried mother approached the Kashimira police. During investigation, a local vendor from the area of the girl’s school informed the officials he had seen her going with a man.

Following this, the officials used CCTV footage and identified the man as the friend of the victim’s mother. They then put his mobile phone on tracking and found his phone active in the Mira road area. The police laid a trap and then arrested the accused.
