The police is searching for the man by checking several local CCTV camera footage. According to police sources, the unknown man was harassing the complainant for the last two months. The police has booked a case against him under Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal code.
According to police sources, the incident came to light when a 35-year-old woman, a Malad resident, approached the police station and complained about the unknown man.
The complainant is a call centre employee and for the past two months the accused had been making make lewd comments and vulgar signs at her, while she went home from office. The unknown man also followed the woman several times, but she ignored it.
Later Thursday morning, the woman was returning home from her workplace after a night shift when the accused again started following her. Taking advantage of the empty road, the unknown accused opened his pant zip and flashed her. He then tried to molest her. Scared with the attempt, the woman hurried from the place and informed the police officials. Later, the officials booked a case against the unknown youth.
Police officials said the accused must be harbouring one-sided love for the complainant or could be a drug addict or alcoholic. The police is checking with other women in the area to find out if they had similar experiences and know the accused.
