Maharashtra CM promises to finish major projects by 2019

Taking a dig at Opposition Congress-NCP for delaying all major infrastructure projects, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday promised to complete them by 2019. The projects include Metro railway, Navi Mumbai international airport, Mumbai Trans—Harbour Link, Mumbai Nagpur Expressway and coastal road.

“The coastal road project was proposed in 2003 and revived by then chief minister Prithviraj Chavan in 2013. Despite holding meetings it did not get a single permission. But, we got all the permissions in just 11 months and the tender will be floated on April 30. The project will be completed by 2019,” Mr Fadnavis said in the Assembly.

Recalling that he had always heard about the Mumbai Trans Harbour Project during his early days in politics, Mr Fadnavis claimed that the work was accelerated after he become the chief minister. “We got all the permissions for the Trans Harbour link in one year. The first phase will be completed in 2019 and second phase will get underway in four years,” he said. The CM said that there are engineering challenges in the project, but said it would be completed within the stipulated time.

On the Navi Mumbai International Airport, the CM said that all the required permissions were sought in one month. He also added that the financial bids will be opened in next 15 days and work order will be issued in one month. In December 2019, the airport will have its first flight, he said.

In another ambitious project, Metro line 7, the CM said read out development on technical side datewise. He claimed that the metro line 7, Metro line 2A and Metro-3 would be completed by 2019.

On the Chhatrapati Shivaji memorial, the CM said it would be completed it within 40 months. On the ambitious Nagpur Mumbai Communication Super Express Way, the CM said that it would be completed by 2020.
