Maharashtra bags investment of Rs 8 lakh crore
Maharashtra emerged as a front-runner in the Make in India event that concluded on Thursday, bagging possible investment of Rs 8 lakh crore and generation of around 30 lakh jobs.

Maharashtra emerged as a front-runner in the Make in India event that concluded on Thursday, bagging possible investment of Rs 8 lakh crore and generation of around 30 lakh jobs. It has signed over 50 per cent of the total MoUs at the event, attracting investment in sectors like IT, electronics and food processing.
Delighted to grab the MoUs on offer at the event, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said that his government was trying to fulfil dreams of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to highlight the manufacturing sector of India. According to the CM, out of Rs 15.20 lakh crore worth MoUs, the proposed investment in Maharashtra is Rs 7.94 lakh crore.
“We have signed MoUs of Rs 8 lakh crore and the spectrum of the investment is very diverse. We have signed MoUs of Rs 1.50 lakh crore for Marathwada and Vidarbha, Rs 25,000 crore for Khandesh, Rs 50,000 crore for Pune and Rs 3 lakh crore for Mumbai, Metropolitan Region and Konkan. I am happy that the investment portfolio has been shifted to other regions also,” the CM said in a press conference after the event was over.
The CM credited investments of Rs 60,000 crore for electronics and Rs 25,000 crore for IT to the newly-launched policies. Even for SMEs, he said Rs 10,000 crore will be invested, creating huge employment opportunities.
Mr Fadnavis said the state could even provide more land for industries still interested to come. “We have enough land available for all the MoUs signed here and can provide more land. The MIDC has created a land bank and we have also increased FSI to one for the industries that will allow vertical construction,” he said. However, the chief minister also admitted that the industries coming to the state would not get any special concession on power tariff. “The industries would get existing power tariff advantage. We haven’t planned anything new for them,” he added.
