The family of Sandeep Gadoli, a gangster killed in an alleged fake encounter by Haryana police, has approached a local court seeking monitoring of the investigation into Gadoli’s killing by a magistrate.
Sudesh Kataria, Gadoli’s sister, through advocate Tanvir Nizam, filed an application under section 156 (3) of CrPC, requesting the court to monitor the probe into the case.
Advocate Nizam said that while the family had pointed out certain facts to the Special Investigation Team (SIT), the latter ignored the same despite repeated follow-ups which is why the family approached the court. He further claimed the family had details of the press conference held by commissioner of police, Gurgaon, where the latter mentioned that he was aware of the encounter and also praised the team for their work. According to advocate Nizam, this conduct of the CP falsified his claim that he did not have any knowledge about the encounter.
Earlier on September 30, the magistrate court allowed judicial inquiry into the incident and the family on Wednesday sought monitoring of the investigation as well. The metropolitan magistrate has posted the matter for hearing on October 20.
A team of Haryana police, led by sub-inspector Pradhyuman Yadav, had killed Gadoli in an encounter at Hotel Airport Metro. An SIT comprising Mumbai police officers arrested police personnel who were part of the encounter.
