The Kurar police has arrested a man for allegedly raping his 19-year-old daughter repeatedly for over more than a year. According to the police, the daughter is a teenager and the eldest of three sisters.

Investigators reveal that the girl decided to speak out, fearing for her sisters’ safety and revealed everything to her mother.

The mother then approached the police and registered an FIR against the father of the girl. The family of five resides in Appapada area of Kurar village in Malad.

The police is investigating if the accused could have targeted his other two daughters and other girls in the neighbourhood.

Following the girl’s complaint, the police booked the father under section 376 (Rape) of the Indian Penal Code. The police arrested the man on Friday night from his house and he has now been remanded to custody. “We will talk to the two other daughters and check if he targeted them in any way. We will also be checking his phone to see if he sexually assaulted any other children in thearea,” said a police source.

“The girl has informed us that her father started making advances towards her in January last year. She said that he would touch her inappropriately when she was alone at home and then started raping her,” said a senior officer from Kurar police station.

“He had threatened the girl and had scared her into silence. Hence she never spoke out,” the officer said.

Sources revealed that recently, she started noticing her father had started looking at her youngersiblings.

“This girl finished class 10 but did not enrol in a college,” said a police source. He added that the arrested accused is a carpenter by profession.

He added that the girl had been raped many times over the year. “We have sent her for a medical check up too. We are glad she decided to confide in the mother and the mother acted courageously and lodged a complaint against her husband,” the officer said.
