Former top cop Dr Kiran Bedi refrained from commenting on the political wars going on in New Delhi and spoke on the issues facing the country and the steps needed to be taken to help the country towards the road of progress. Dr Bedi, who was a guest speaker at Technovanza, the technological fest of Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute at Matunga on Sunday, stressed on the need for pursuing the Make in India initiative as it was the only way for the survival of millions of Indians and the country.
According to Nikit Gadlinge, chief coordinator of Technovanza, Ms Bedi spoke about the need for the students to be steadfast and not lose sight of the ultimate goal of becoming engineers. “Ms Bedi gave an example of how economic reforms take time to show results and said that it took a few years for the effects to become visible. She also pointed out that the reforms that were implemented by the past government are giving effective results now. Similarly, today’s economic reforms will bear fruit in the future. She wanted us to be patient and not become disillusioned.”
Ms Bedi also elaborated on the need for proper guidance and said that every person is skilled but needs help to identify the skill and then get shown the right direction so that he or she can use his or her skills in the best possible manner. She also spoke on the need and importance of sports and yoga in this fast-paced world wherein everything is slowly revolving around automation, thus reducing the physical activities of working individuals.
She also shared her UPSC interview experience and exhorted students to cultivate good habits as their effects would yield good results in the future.
