The officers had gone to arrest the accused at his home but members of his family, after initially misguiding thems, attempted to prevent them from entering in their house.

In the meantime, the accused managed to escape, but the police eventually nabbed him and arrested three of his relatives for interfering in police work. The arrested accused have been identified as Neeraj Jeet Bahadur Singh, his mother Vandana Singh, brother Dhiraj Singh and his wife Priti Singh.

According to the officials, Neeraj had snatched a gold chain from a 69-year-old man early on Friday morning near the Datta temple in Kurar village. In the incident, the elderly man also suffered a few injuries.

The police then registered a case and started identifying the accused. When the officials discovered that Neeraj, a resident of Gayatri Chawl, Pratap Nagar of Kurar village, had snatched the chain, police constable Sanjay Kadam along with his team went to his residence to arrest him.

The accused were arrested under sections 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty.), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 225 (Resistance or obstruction to lawful apprehension of another person) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
