Kids made to stand naked outside class

The Malvani police of Malad has registered a case against a teacher and the owner of a coaching class, after taking suo moto action in the matter, following a video clip on WhatsApp going viral with two kids standing in the nude outside a coaching class. A senior police official from the Malvani police station said that no arrests have been made and police is investigating the matter.

Police officials said that the video was shot on Saturday morning by NGO volunteers, who chanced upon two kids — one, a six-year-old and the other, an 11-year-old — standing naked outside Shree Tutorial, a coaching class in Malvani, as part of their punishment. Later, the video clip went viral and fell into the hands of Malvani police, who started identifying the minor boys and eventually traced them to their families. A senior police official from Malvani police station said that when they approached the families of the two boys, they refused to register any complaint. Thereafter, the police took suo moto action in the incident and registered a complaint.

According to Milind Khetle, senior inspector, Malvani police station, a case was registered under Sections 75 and 82 of the Juvenile Justice Act against two persons from the coaching class. The owner of the class and the teacher who punished the boys have been booked.

Meanwhile, sources revealed that the two minors were not good in studies and were bullies. Hence, their parents, who hail from the lower middle-class, were contacted by the owner of Shree Tutorial who is also their neighbour. He told the parents to send their kids to his classes so they would learn something. Apparently, the parents also told the owner to be strict with the children and punish them if required but not to beat them at any point. Locals said these children hated going to class and many a time, the owner and teacher had dragged them to the classes as they were unwilling to go there.
