Khar police nab man for murdering watchman
The Khar police nabbed a man in Palghar for a murder in their area within 48 hours of the time of the incident. According to police officials, the murder took place after a minor fight broke out over money between the accused and the victim. The police has booked the accused under Section 302 (Murder) of the Indian Penal Code. The accused, Anand Kumar Mishra (38), was produced in court on Monday and it remanded him to police custody till January 1.
According to police officials, on December 26, a person had informed the Khar police station that a watchman was lying unconscious at a construction site of Bhatia realtors near the White House area in Khar (west). Later when the officials reached the spot they found, one Upadand Das (24) dead, with an injury on his head. His body was on a chair. After sending the body for the autopsy, officials started questioning local labourers. During the interrogation, officials came to know about a watchman named Anand Kumar Mishra, who went missing since murder.
To find Mishra, officials launched a search operation, and formed four special squads. These squads conducted searches at all major railways stations and bus depots of the city. Officials later came to know from a friend of the accused that he hails from Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh. The police then immediately sent its teams to the city. Later, on Sunday, officials received a tip-off about Mishra. Apparently, he was staying at the Boisar area of Palghar. The police then arrested Mishra at about 8 pm on Sunday.
During the questioning, Mishra told the police that Das used to tell him everyday to report to the work on time, which angered him. There was also a financial dispute between the two. According to the police officials, Mishra had allegedly hitDas four or five times on the head from behind and then fled from the spot.
