After demolishing part of comedian Kapil Sharma’s Versova apartment, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has now slapped a fine on the comedian, to reimburse charges incurred by the civic body to carry out the demolition. Assistant commissioner of the K west ward Parag Mahsurkar, under whose administrative jurisdiction Sharma’s office falls, said, “We have already issued the notice to Sharma, and several other bungalows in that area. It took us some time to coordinate with the police and calculate the cost of demolition.”

Ameet Satam, MLA said, “I have been told the fine has been pegged at around Rs 15,000. This includes all charges, including salaries of the men involved in the demolition, as well as the cost of taking the machinery to the spot and carrying out the demolition.”

The civic body will reimburse the cost incurred for usage of BMC machinery and labour charges during the demolition. It took the civic staff an entire day to carry out the demolition of Sharma’s Andheri-based office.
