A day after the death of Kandivali resident, Dharmik Deepak Shah (12), police officials believe that the boy accidentally fell off from the rooftop though they have not ruled out possibility of suicide by the boy.

Dharmik was declared dead after falling from the 12th floor of his building on Wednesday afternoon. According to eyewitnesses, he was seen sitting on the boundary wall of the roof of his building. The building watchman told The Asian Age that just like so many kids who come to him to ask for terrace keys, Dharmik too approached him for keys on Wednesday.

Later however, he fell to his death from the terrace. His autopsy report revealed that he died due to head injuries. Police sources said that before going to the terrace, Dharmik told his mother that he was going for tuition classes.

Deepak Shah, Dharmik’s father, works as a diamond merchant in BKC and his mother, Anjali, is a housewife. On Thursday, police recorded statements of his parents, teachers of Ajmera Global School where Dharmik was studying in class VII, and teachers of Benchmall Academy where Dharmik used to go for French language tuition classes. In their statements, teachers and classmates said that Dharmik was an above average student and obtained 65 per cent marks last year which is good for an IB Board student.

Upon visiting Dharmik’s school, it was learnt that on Wednesday, the boy wanted to be commentator for a six over match but was told to go home as he would miss the school bus. Two days before that, he was among the top eight to run in the school-level competition. Sources said Dharmik was an adopted child from a Vile Parle-based missionary and since birth, he had a 60 per cent hearing disability and used to wear hearing aids. But he never took it as a disability and was a happy-go-lucky child.
