Kalchachni results out but remains inaccessible to students

The results of the kalchachni or career guidance test conducted by the state for Class X students were declared on Monday afternoon.

The results of the kalchachni or career guidance test conducted by the state for Class X students were declared on Monday afternoon. However, students complained they could not access the results on the Institute of Vocational Guidance and Selection (IVGS) as claimed by the school education ministry. In a late evening development, the site was unreachable and could not be accessed anymore.

According to some students, when they searched online for the kalchachni 2016 results they were directed to the IVGS website. “I was very keen to know the outcome as it was expected to help me decide on what vocation I should pursue after SSC. Hence, when I went on the IVGS website I only saw a message by education minister Vinod Tawde that elaborated on the importance of the test and how it was important to achieve the Make in India and Skill for India concepts. I could not find the log in button for my result,” said a student from Bandra. On Sunday, Mr Tawde had announced the kalchachani result would be declared on April 25 on the IVGS website at 1 pm prompting many students to go to the site directly.

Another student from Santacruz said she also could not access her result on the IVGS website. “I had been trying to find my result since 2 pm but it was not there. I kept on trying every hour but to no avail and finally the website became inaccessible after 6 pm. This is frustrating and we are surprised at the way we have been taken for a ride” said the student.

A parent, Jude Amaral said that after SSC exams children have a tough time opting for a stream to take up in college. “The government’s initiative would have reduced the need to go for aptitude tests that are conducted by private institutes for a fee. But now we feel we should go for the aptitude test to help our children decide,” said Mr Amaral.
