JEE main Papers tougher than last year: students
The two papers in the offline edition of the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main held on Sunday went off without a hitch. While students claimed that the papers were a bit tougher than the previous versions, experts said the papers were balanced and the challenging questions in each part did prove to be a hurdle for students. They however added that the cut offs this year would be slightly higher than last year.
“Few questions in Physics were tricky and challenging and compared to last year it was a bit tough. There were some questions that had multiple answers but we preferred to leave it unanswered as a wrong answer would merit negative marking. In the chemistry section, two questions were tricky and one question did not have matching answers. The mathematics section when compared to last year was tougher with a few lengthy questions,” said a student who had appeared for the exam.
According to R.L. Trikha, director-FIITJEE, the overall difficulty level for paper I was moderate. “For a student who has been focussed and serious all through the two years in improving speed and accuracy by taking regular quizzes and mock tests on JEEM pattern, must have done reasonably well,” said Mr Trikha, adding that cut-offs are expected to be little higher than last year.
Around 12 lakh students appeared for the JEE Main 2016 examination at over 2,000 centres in 129 cities in India and abroad.
