JEE Advanced results out; topper from IIT-B zone

Among the seven zones under the various Indian Institute of Technology in the country, IIT-Bombay zone with 8,810 candidates had the highest number of qualifiers for the JEE (Advanced) that will secure the students a seat in 22 IITs and Indian School of Mines (ISM).
According to statistics released by IIT-Guwahati that conducted the test on May 22, out of the 1.98 lakh students who qualified for the JEE Advanced, a total of 1.48 lakh aspirants appeared for the test and IIT-B zone had the highest number of qualifiers followed by IIT-Delhi zone that had 5,941 qualifiers. Around 24.78 per cent of candidates qualified from the seven zones. The all India topper Aman Bansal from Jaipur appeared from IIT-B zone too. The top 10 rankers has three aspirants from the IIT-B zone. The zone also had 37 and 153 rankers in the top 100 and top 500 lists respectively.
While Awale topped in the Scheduled caste category, Prey Shah and Dimple Kochar from Maharashtra were the state toppers in the open category for both boys and girls. Shah secured an all India rank of 16 to be the topper among boys in the state and Kochar with an all India rank of 245 was the topper among girls.
The qualifiers will now compete for the 10,575 seats at the 22 IITs — including 903 seats at IIT Bombay. The process for submitting preferences of course and colleges will begin after the counselling round, the dates of which will be announced in the next couple of days.
