It has also come to light that the accused not only drowned the girl near Tungareshwar waterfall in Vasai, but also brought her back to Virar in an autorickshaw and then possibly had sex with her dead body in an under-construction structure just behind her building. He dumped the body in the bushes and went absconding. The post mortem report is awaited to confirm the premise. The Vasai court has remanded Bhosle, who worked as a waiter in a five-start hotel in Colaba, in police custody till July 26 on Wednesday.
“The cause of death is polytrauma (medical term to describe the condition of a person who has been subjected to multiple traumatic injuries). What’s shocking is that he raped her after killing her,” said PI P.D. Kolhe of Arnala Coastal police station.
The police said he might have also performed unnatural sex with her.
“We will now question the auto driver who ferried the dead girl and the accused from Tungareshwar Bird Sanctuary in Vasai to Virar,” said Mr Kolhe, adding, “The auto driver should have informed us if he suspected any foul play while ferrying the couple.”
Bhosle reportedly told the auto driver his girlfriend was unconscious.
The police further said that after raping and murdering Shah, Bhosle visited his parents in Moregaon, Nalla Sopara, and broke down in front of them. His father locked him up at home, and informed PI Prakash Birajdar of Tulinj police station who rushed to the spot Tuesday evening. On seeing the police, Bhosle tried to scoot off, but the police apprehended him and then intimated the Arnala Coastal police who had found Shah’s body by then.
After the arrest, the accused initially misled the police by stating that he had murdered her by stabbing her multiple times with a knife. However, the body had no external injuries to show she was stabbed, said officials.
However, it is not clear if the accused had sex before killing the victim or with her corpse.
