Indian Navy’s symphonic orchestra performs

The Indian Navy Symphonic Orchestra presented an exhilarating performance at the St. Andrew’s auditorium, Bandra Friday evening.

The Indian Navy Symphonic Orchestra presented an exhilarating performance at the St. Andrew’s auditorium, Bandra Friday evening. The band enthralled the audience with popular martial music, Bollywood retro hits, best of the Big Bands and a host of other forms of contemporary genres, including pop, film and folk music. The Indian Navy conducts a series of events in the run up to the Navy Day to spread awareness about the role of the service. The Indian Navy Symphonic Band concert was one of the events scheduled in the city during the Navy Week celebrations. The band is comprised of 65 musicians.

The speciality of the performance was the use of pure wind and percussion instruments.

The band regaled the audience with a wide range of music such as the ‘Summer of 69’, a special segment featuring some of the most popular tunes from the greatest musical of all time ‘The Sound of Music’ and a medley of folk tunes of Western India, among others.

The band performed under the baton of Commander V.C. D'Cruz, director of Music, Indian Navy.
