The Thane police is interrogating all of Husnain Warerkar’s friends to find out the reason behind his extreme step. Meanwhile, one of Husnain’s brothers-in-law has revealed that Husnain had a close friend whom he trusted to the extent of giving him Rs 70 lakh — which he had taken in loans from various family members — for business purposes.
According to police, Husnain had taken more than Rs 75 lakh in loans from family members, including Rs 15 lakh each from his two maternal aunts, Rs 19.25 lakh from his mother who sold all her ornaments for the purpose, and Rs 25 lakh from his sisters. At the time, Husnain had discussed his business idea with one of his brothers-in-law, Shaukat Khan, who gave him Rs 7 lakh as loan. Husnain also told Shaukat that he could not start the business in his own name as he would face problems in the office where he was working and so, he was giving all the money to his best friend who could be trusted to handle his business. However, he did not reveal his best friend’s name to Shaukat.
Sources said, “It would be a great link if we could find Husnain’s friend, whom he trusted and gave all his money that he had taken from his relatives on loan basis. He might have known something about Husnain.”
