‘Have evidence against Mamta’
The Thane police on Saturday said it has strong evidence against actress Mamta Kulkarni, who is an accused in an international drug racket that involved smuggling of ephedrine.

The Thane police on Saturday said it has strong evidence against actress Mamta Kulkarni, who is an accused in an international drug racket that involved smuggling of ephedrine.
The Thane police has submitted two chargesheets in the case till now, the first of which was filed on June 14, and the second on Thursday. Kulkarni is mentioned in the second chargesheet, which is 358 pages long.
In the chargesheets, the police has mentioned photos, emails and chats as evidence against the accused — Manoj Jain, Puneet Shringi and the chemist Babasaheb Dhotre, Dr Abdullah, Kulkarni and her husband, alleged international drug lord Vicky Goswami.
Jain, one of the directors in Avon Lifesciences Ltd and one of the main accused, used to allegedly meet Kulkarni and Goswami often. The police has received some photographs of Jain in Kenya. Also, officials have mentioned message where Jain allegedly talks about meeting Kulkarni.
Among other evidence are mails and messages that had allegedly been exchanged between Kulkarni and the co-accused.
One of the accused mentioned in his statement that Kulkarni, who had taken over her husband’s business, met Jain and that he was present at the meeting.
Officials have attached all Kulkarni’s bank accounts to uncover details about how the money was transferred. The police is also tracking hawala transactions to get strong proof against the accused.
Meanwhile, the Thane police send a formal request to the Central government to ask that an Interpol notice be issued to Kulkarni and her husband. The police registered Kulkarni’s name in the FIR on June 16.
