The applicants of general category, who have submitted their forms with Haj Committee of India (HCI) for Haj 2016, are advised not to travel from remote areas to attend the lucky draw of Haj pilgrims, because it is unlikely that even a single applicant from general category would get a chance to go for Haj this year through the committee. The draw is scheduled to be held on March 29 at Haj House in Mumbai.
The HCI has three categories of Haj pilgrims whom they cater to. The first two are reserved categories of whom first is those who have attained 70-years of age and would be given first preference to go for Haj the second category is of those who are making attempt to go for Haj though HCI consecutively since last four years and would be given a chance to go for Haj on seats left after selection of first reserved category.
However, the Saudi government is distributing fewer quota to all the countries, including India, due to expansion and construction work going on in Haram (where Haj is performed) for the last few years.
