A Bengaluru-bound GoAir flight from Mumbai was delayed for more than an hour on Friday.
According Mumbai airport sources, GoAir flight G8-325 was found to be overbooked after some GoAir staff members were accommodated in the plane while it was already full. These staff members were supposed to reach Bengaluru. When boarding was complete, the cabin crew realised the flight was getting overbooked. They de-boarded the staff concerned and the whole process took almost half an hour. Later on, owing to congestion at the city airport, the Air Traffic Control (ATC) gave them a schedule of departure 15 minutes late, airport sources said.
According to sources the flight was scheduled to depart at 9.45 pm on Friday and eventually took off around 11 pm.
GoAir officials claimed that offloading the staff members took 15 minutes and the delay was because of ATC, as the flight could not get a slot to fly from them.
