Get entry pass to Mantralaya online

Soon visitors to Mantralaya will be able to eschew the long queues for an entry pass.

Soon visitors to Mantralaya will be able to eschew the long queues for an entry pass.

The government will introduce online entry system from January 15, which will enable visitors to register online and get an SMS or printout of approval to enter Mantralaya. The present system requires visitors to stand in queues and get their entry pass signed by authorities manually.

“This is a pilot project; instead of waiting in queues for long hours outside Mantralaya for handwritten entry slips, citizens will be now able to make online entry passes from home. They can then display the printouts or SMS containing their details and a barcode at the Mantralaya entrance,” said Rajesh Agrawal, who is the principal secretary, information technology department.

Accordingly, the state government website will now feature a link for online entry registration, he said. “Citizens will have to fill their details online, take a print out and display it when they come to Mantralaya. A screen shot on their mobiles or the SMS received with the barcode will also be acceptable for entry,” Mr Agrawal said.

A detailed meeting between the IT and home departments’ officials was conducted about the online entry registration some time ago. “We will enhance the police presence at the Mantralaya gates and have more than one counter. The idea is to make citizens’ entry possible in 15 to 20 minutes rather than make them wait for three to four hours in the queues,” Mr Agrawal said. Additional outlets to provide entry passes will also be started from 10 am, but entry will be given only after 2 pm, he added.
