Gang of 10 housebreakers nabbed

The Ghatkopar police arrested six from a gang who have allegedly been involved in more than 10 housebreaking cases in Mumbai city on Monday night.

The Ghatkopar police arrested six from a gang who have allegedly been involved in more than 10 housebreaking cases in Mumbai city on Monday night. The police was on the lookout for the group of robbers for a few years after they came to know about their involvement in several housebreaking cases. The police has been able to recover Rs 4.5 lakh from the arrested accused.

A crime branch official said, “We were searching for these gangsters for the past few years. Two of the gang members have allegedly been involved in several robbery and half-murder cases.” The gang was arrested by crime branch unit seven of the Ghatkopar police.

Crime branch officials were tipped off about the gang’s involvement in the house-breaking incident in Pant Nagar last month where Rs 4.5 lakh rupees

was robbed from the house. Then the crime branch police started the search operation for the gang. A police official said, “On Saturday, the patrolling team of the station spotted a suspicious person roaming around the residential area around 12:30 am. Our team started following him and we informed other teams about the same. Later, we saw him meeting five more members. They were planning of robbing another house in Pant Nagar area. We immediately nabbed him. A knife, a screw diver, other tools and equipment used to break into houses and open windows were discovered on them. ”

Sources in the police said that the arrested gang had been committing crimes since the past few years in different suburbs of Mumbai.
