Following a man’s allegations that his ex-wife attempted to kill their three children by feeding them poison, the D.N. Nagar Police has registered a FIR against the woman and is investigating the case to see if her ex-husband’s claims are true.

Police sources said that the accused, Shaheen Shaikh (27) and the complainant, Mohammed Farooq (35) had married but separated a few months ago after he suspected his wife of having an affair. The couple has three sons aged 12, eight, and six and earlier resided at Siddhivinayak Chawl in Nehru Nagar, Vile Parle. After separation, Mr Farooq shifted to Hussain Chawl in Juhu Galli, Andheri, with their three children.

A senior police officer from D.N. Nagar police station said, “At around 11.30pm on Thursday, Ms Shaikh allegedly visited her husband and their three children at their home and asked the children to step out with her for a bite. She then took them to a sugarcane juice vendor in the area, where the younger siblings had a glass each of juice while the elder one had two glasses. After returning home, the children complained that they were feeling dizzy and uneasy, and were rushed to Cooper Hospital.”

While the children were declared to be out of danger, their father approached the police, claiming that their mother had poisonedthe sugarcane juice.
