Almost six years after Farid Tanasha, an alleged sharpshooter in Chhota Rajan’s gang, was shot dead at his home in suburban Chembur, the special MCOCA court in Mumbai on Thursday commenced the trial in his murder case with the examination of the first witness.

Zuber Jamdar (42) – a distant relative of Tanasha’s who would often spend the whole day at the deceased’s house to keep an eye on it – appeared as the first witness in the case. Jamdar told the court that after Tanasha was released from jail in 2008, he had had certain differences with Bharat Nepali, a gangster. He added that on the day of Tanashah’s murder, he had noticed four boys who did not belong to that colony entering Tanashah’s house while he (Jamdar) had been leaving it on a motorcycle. He said that he suspected those four boys of having killed Tanashah.
