Family nabbed for breaking into South Mumbai houses
The Pydhonie police on Sunday arrested four members of an Antop Hill family in connection with at least nine housebreaking cases in south Mumbai. The accused have been identified as Ramakanti Nisad (30), Arjunkumar Nisad (20), Rambabu Nisad (30) and a 14-year-old. Police said Ramakanti was the leader of the gang and encouraged her three brothers into it.
Senior PI Sunil Kavlekar said, “Two of the accused would do a recce of the area and zero in on the shop or house they planned to rob. They would create a hole in the wall of the house or shop and then send their youngest brother inside to steal valuables. Job done, they would flee from the spot.”
Police nailed the gang following a report lodged by a home appliances shop owner from Masjid Bandar whose shop was burgled on Monday. “Acting on the report, police launched an investigation and picked up the suspects from their Antop Hill house on Sunday,” said Mr Kavlekar. Stolen items worth '329,196 including laptops and mobile phones have been recovered.
