A 30-year-old man who was externed from Chembur a year ago, allegedly robbed his own father and stabbed him last night at Chembur. The police registered an FIR against the accused and arrested him on Friday evening. The accused was externed for having more than nine body offences registered against him.
Identified as Hemant Ramdeo Rao, a resident of Chembur since the past 20 years, the accused was living with his father before he was externed.
A police officer said, “He was externed by DCP for having more than nine body offences registered against him. There are five robbery, chain-snatching cases and housebreaking cases also registered against him.”
“He was externed for the next five years but then we came to know that he came to Chembur twice during that time. This time, his father himself told us that his son had come and was harassing him.”
“We searched for him and arrested him from the area. He was granted police custody for three days and then, he was out on bail on Wednesday. On Thursday, he went home and started abusing his father and they had a huge fight at that time when he stabbed his father twice with a knife and took thousands of rupees from his almari,” the officer added.
“He was about to run away when his neigbour, Nagre Allam, caught him. Hemant stabbed him too, snatched money from his pocket, and fled from the place,” the officer said.
Later, Mr Allam informed Chembur police officials and narrated the incident.
Other neighbours took Mr Allam and Rao’s father to hospital. The Chembur police registered a case against Rao under the Indian Penal Code sections 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery), 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 506 (criminal intimidation), and arrested the accused on Friday evening.
