The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) claims that the proposed communication super expressway between Mumbai and Nagpur will be a game changer for the state, as it will boost the socio-economic development in the entire central region of the country.

The MSRDC, has proposed infrastructure like that of logistic, agricultural, industrial and educational hubs along the alignment that passes through backward regions of the state such as Sinnar, Jalna, Shendra, Waluj, Wardha and Amravati.

“Facilities like Wi-Fi, IT hubs with solar panels along the expressway are unprecedented and will be a game changer for the state’s economy,” said Kiran Kurundkar, joint managing director, MSRDC.

The expressway is expected to have six lanes along with an additional two service roads. The entire corridor is expected to cut down travel time taken to travel between Mumbai and Nagpur to 10 hours from the current 15-17 hours.

The state government has already announced to give 25 per cent of the developed land acquired back to the farmers, which will be ready for commercial and industrial purposes. The total length of the expressway is 744-km-long and the deadline for completing the project has been set for 2019, right before the Lok Sabha and state assembly elections.
