The Yuva Sena has released a ‘missing person’ poster over social media of vice-chancellor of University of Mumbai (MU) Dr Sanjay Deshmukh after issues pertaining to students and teachers not being addressed since he took over.
Pradeep Sawant, Yuva Sena member and former senate member of MU, said that the university was in total disarray. “All departments and functions of the University have become sluggish and the same is most evident in the examination section, which is yet to announce results of the exams conducted in the first half of 2016. With the second half exams to be held in the next couple of months, the time gap between results and exams will be negligible, making it difficult for the teachers and students to make any difference from one exam to another. We hold the V-C responsible for this mess,” said Mr Sawant.
He added the reluctance of the V-C to meet students has prompted the Yuva Sena to start the Apan Yanna Pahilat Ka campaign over social media to coax Dr Deshmukh to address the problems more aggressively and get involved personally in solving them too.
However, Dr M.A. Khan, registrar, MU, said, “Access to all student and public representatives is open and the V-C is also meeting them without prior appointment at the Fort office... the other officials are also regularly present to resolve the issues being brought to their notice.”
