In an attempt to promote exchange of new and easy methods of teaching the Ministry of School Education will hold a five-day “Shikshanchi Wari” (education pilgrimage) at Balewadi near Pune between January 27 and January 31.
Minister for school education Vinod Tawde said that the aim is to let teachers, students and educationists familiarise themselves with new innovative teaching techniques devised by schoolteachers across the state. The government has selected 50 teachers from government and zilla parishad schools who will put up their stalls at the venue showcasing their new teaching techniques for the benefit of students and teachers as well. Every day, the session will culminate with a question and answer session. He said that models on new teaching techniques like e-learning, digital schools, education related websites, apps and blogs developed by schools would also be on show.
The government will also ensure issues of gender sensitivity are addressed while devising mathematical sums. Mr Tawde stated that government will ask neighbouring state governments to let teachers in schools in border areas train students in their mother tongue.
Replying to questions over the paper leak in TET exams, Mr Tawde said that principal secretary Nandkumar had in his report recommended re-examination of Paper 1. He also had recommended divesting the charge of those involved and investigating the matter.
When asked to comment upon the permission given to organisers to invite noted Pakistani Ghazal Singer Ghulam Ali for the release of a CD “Ghar Wapsi”, he said that the government will have to ascertain the motive of the organisers whether it was for political or cultural purposes. He however argued that it was not his prerogative to decide on the matter as it was related to the home ministry.
