The deputy director of education (DYDE) office that conducts the FYJC online admission process is considering having a fourth round after around 1,000 students out the total 2.03 lakh students who participated in the process are yet to be allotted seats. Apart from these students, the DYDE has also been inundated with demands from around 50 to 60 students having good percentages to get a seat allotted in the college of their choice in the offline process.
On Tuesday, the DYDE had announced the third merit list wherein students who had not been allotted a seat as well as those who had applied for betterment options were allotted seats. However, unhappy with the allotment, many students and their parents approached the DYDE office on Wednesday demanding a seat in the college of their choice in light of their percentage being above the cut-off marks of the junior college of their choice.
A student who secured around 86 per cent and had listed KPB Hinduja College as the first preference college said that though the cut-off after the third round was 84.2 per cent the online process did not allot a seat there but had allotted seats in all the lists in other colleges. Apart from this, the DYDE office also saw numerous students with complaints of mistakes in the online application form as well as demands for change of colleges.
When asked about the same, B.B. Chavan, in-charge deputy director of education, said, “Students have been allotted seats as per their preference lists and if they want to change it, then they will have to do it during the offline mode that will commence soon after the online process is over. However, colleges will have to conduct admissions to quota seats as per the directions of the high court,” said Mr Chavan. The high court had instructed the DYDE to conduct admissions to the quota seats also through the online mode.
