The Thane police has received a few letters from employees of the Solapur chemical-manufacturing factory, which was sealed by the Thane police for producing ephedrine in a massive drug haul case.

The police will use these letters as evidence against some of the arrested accused. It has also been revealed that the seized ephedrine has been sent for chemical analysis.

The report clearly mentions that along with ephedrine, methamphetamine, which is banned under The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS), was also seized.

Thane officials in April raided Avon Lifesciences Limited Company, which is listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange and manufactures a range of pesticides, pharmaceuticals and dyes, and seized around 10,071.5 kg of ephedrine and 8,541 kg of pseudo-ephedrine. After this, Manoj Jain, the director of the firm, was arrested.

Sources said that after arresting senior officials of the company, some of its employees spoke up and sent letters to Thane police officials.

In one such letter, an employee mentioned that last year the director came to them and told them that the employees would be getting additional work as they were expanding operations, and they had also started building a separate section inside the factory to manufacture and store the Ephedrine. Sources said exactly at that time alleged drug lord Vicky Goswami called Puneet Shringi, another accused in the drug bust, and told him about a new drug contract that he had got.

Police sources said the employee revealed other points, which are confidential, and the Thane police is likely to add it in the next chargesheet. The letters can be used as evidence against the directors of the company and two accused in the case.
