Deepak Sawant’s ‘tainted’ personal secretary sent on leave

Health minister Dr Deepak Sawant on Monday sent his personal secretary (PS) Sunil Mali, who is facing charges of harassment charges from a woman doctor, on compulsory leave.

Health minister Dr Deepak Sawant on Monday sent his personal secretary (PS) Sunil Mali, who is facing charges of harassment charges from a woman doctor, on compulsory leave. The government has also ordered an inquiry into the incident. A 26-year-old female medical officer has alleged that Mali engaged her in personal chat for two hours inside the office antechamber when she went to make the presentation of a project to the minister. The PS has denied the allegations.

Dr Sawant also briefed chief minister Devendra Fadnavis about the allegations against his PS. According to sources, the chief minister was satisfied with the action taken by the health minister in the case.

The complainant, who is posted at Jalgoan has written a complaint to the CM regarding Mali’s alleged misbehavior with her. In her letter written to the chief minister on June 18, she claimed that she had come to Mantralaya during the budget session of the state Assembly to meet the chief minister. During her visit, she gave a presentation on ‘digital public health centre’, which she is operating in Jalgaon with public participation and without spending any government money.

The complainant claimed that after she gave her presentation to the minister, Mali kept her waiting in the antechamber where he asked her personal questions. She also expressed her displeasure in strong words to Mali, she claimed. Thereafter, Mali allegedly told her that she would require a godfather to implement her project.

“Mali has been sent on a compulsory leave. Dr Sawant has also ordered an inquiry into the mater,” Mr Fadnavis said. Mali has refuted all allegations against him and claimed that it was a conspiracy to defame him.
