Sunil Mali, private secretary to minister, Dr Deepak Sawant, was transferred after Dr Manisha Mahajan alleged that he had molested her last month. Ms Mahajan is the in-charge of Patonda-based Public Health Centre in Chalisgaon tehsil of Jalgaon district. She has transformed her PHC into a digital PHC and expressed the wish that the state adopt her model and implement it in other PHCs too.
Meanwhile, she alleged that Mr Mali had molested her and filed a complaint at the police station as well as with the chief minister. Later, Mr Mali was immediately removed from his post and transferred. He is facing a departmental inquiry.
According to the minister’s staff, who did not wish to be named, the minister did not hear what Mr Mali had to say. “He took the decision without following natural justice. It was shocking to other staff and most of the office employees felt insecure while working with the minister,” said a member of staff. He added that it was a half-truth that employees had left the minister’s office after the Mali incident; in fact, only five employees including the bodyguard and peon had left recently. Meanwhile, Dr Sawant was not available for reaction despite continuous attempts to reach him.
In another incident in Jalgaon district, Dr Manisha Mahajan tried to commit suicide by consuming poison. She has been admitted into a private hospital at Jalgaon.
