In the case of the mysterious death of builder Amar Bhatia, whose body was found on the railway tracks a few days ago, the Government Railway Police (GRP) on Tuesday recorded statements of some directors of his company as well as family members.
Police officials said that according to Mr Bhatia’s family and business partners, he was not facing any problems.
Statements of the managing director of Mohan Group, Jitendra Lalchandani, and two maternal uncles of Mr Bhatia have been recorded by the police. The police officers said, “Mr Bhatia’s uncle said he was living a very happy life with his family. I know him very well since childhood and I know how he reacts to situations. He could not have committed suicide.”
Mohan Group has 16 partners and 12 projects. According to Mr Lalchandani’s statement, “There is not a single illegality in their projects nor was Mr Bhatia facing any financial crisis.”
“There must be some other reason for his death, not business issues.”
DCP Rupali Ambure said, “We are conducting our investigation. We can’t tell anything till we complete our procedure of taking statements from everyone.”
The body of Mr Bhatia (38) was found on the tracks between Ambernath and Badlapur stations on Sunday.
While the police think it is a case of suicide, some of Mr Bhatia’s close acquaintances say it is murder. Mr Bhatia, one of the directors of Mohan Group, a leading construction firm, lived with his wife and 10-year-old son Romit in Ulhasnagar. They found his body at 1am Sunday.
