Cops ready to bring Chhota Rajan back

Two police officers from Mumbai and CBI team have reached Indonesia to bring back Chhota Rajan even though the Mumbai police is uncertain about when they will get his custody.

Two police officers from Mumbai and CBI team have reached Indonesia to bring back Chhota Rajan even though the Mumbai police is uncertain about when they will get his custody. However, they have already started preparing cases against him.

The police has summoned witnesses related to cases against the underworld don and public prosecutors are being consulted to decide on legal actions.

For the past four days, police officials have been contacting witnesses and complainants in the cases that have been registered against Rajan. Since Rajan has been caught in Bali, police stations all over Mumbai and some from outside the city limits have been working overtime to get all the details of the cases that were registered ten to fifteen years ago.

Sources from the police said, “A few businessmen had lodged complaints earlier and witnesses were in to record their statements. But it is getting a little difficult to bring witnesses from the criminal cases that were registered nine to ten years ago.”

The police is also planning to look into some of the serious cases relating to the gangster that had remained unsolved and now investigating officers are hopeful of getting leads if they get a chance to interrogate Rajan.

According to sources, officers of DCP rank are expected to interrogate him. Police officials are almost ready with the list of major cases for which they would prosecute Rajan.

To present the case properly in the court and get an idea of the problems that investigating officers of these cases had faced earlier, the police is coordinating with the then public prosecutors.

Additional commissioner of police Atulchandra Kulkarni said, “We are almost ready with the list of cases that we will prosecute first. Also, we are coordinating with the public prosecutors for the cases.”
