Cops nab man for raping 14-year-old

The Nalasopara police has arrested a 34-year-old man for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl in Nalasopara (east).

The Nalasopara police has arrested a 34-year-old man for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl in Nalasopara (east). According to the Nalasopara police, the accused, Manoj Yadav, and the victim are locals of the area. The crime dates back to September 18 this year when Yadav forcibly took the minor to his residence and raped her. He then threatened the victim to keep her mouth shut failing which, he would defame her and her family. Fearing his threats, the victim kept mum and returned home. However, a local known to the victim’s mother happened to see her walking out of the accused’s residence. The person informed the victim’s mother on September 30, following which she confronted her daughter. The victim broke down and narrated the sequence of events to her mother after which the matter came to light. The victim’s mother immediately approached the Nalasopara police with the complaint. An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act against Yadav for raping and criminally intimidating the victim. Soon after an FIR was registered, Yadav was picked up by the police and placed under arrest. He was produced in a magistrate’s court and has been remanded to police custody for further probe.
