The Anti-Corruption Bureau of Thane has registered a case against a talathi Sanjay Jadhav (33) for demanding a bribe from a person if he wanted to get a share in his grandfather’s property. The complainant is a resident of the Vasai area and his grandfather had died some time ago.
The complainant and three of his relatives had applied for the 7/12 extract of property. This application had been put up in the tehsildar court. Jadhav allegedly demanded a bribe posing as the local tehsildar of the area at that time Sunil Koli.
Jadhav allegedly approached the complainant and told him that if he wanted to get a share in the property of his grandfather, then he should give a bribe of Rs 10 lakh to him.
The complainant then approached the ACB office of Thane, which registered the complaint against Jadhav. Later, the Valiv police of Vasai area was informed and it is now searching for the accused.
The ACB officials then verified the complaint and came to know that Jadhav had demanded the bribe. A complaint was then lodged in the Valiv police station of Vasai under the Anti-Corruption Act’s Section 88. According to officials of Valiv police station, on Monday, they prepared the documents against Jadhav and went to his house to arrest him but he wasn’t there. Now, the officials are on a lookout to arrest him. According to police sources, Jadhav had demanded the bribe in October, 2015.
Officials also confirmed that the actual tehsildar of the area Mr Koli was in no way connected to the case and investigations were still on.
