Cops to get 25 per cent discount on medicine
The Maharashtra police has tied up with an online pharmacy aggregator, PharmEasy that would provide medicine to the police at 25 per cent discount. This facility would be available to all serving and retired police officials and their family members. Recently, the pilot project has been launched in four cities — Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane and Pune.
As part of the tie-up, PharmEasy will also be providing a concession between 40 and 60 per cent on various diagnostic tests to the members of the police force and their family members.
More than one lakh police officers would benefit from the programme. The first step to initiate the project was taken in February of this year and additional director general of police-Maharashtra, V.V. Lakhsmi Narayan was the main brainchild. He has directed all the commissioners of Mumbai, Thane, Pune and Navi Mumbai to spread the message to their force and constabulary so that maximum members of the police personnel and their families can avail the benefits.
To avail this service, the police personnel will have to download the application on their mobile phones and then upload the medical prescription to order the medicines at their doorsteps. Upon verification of their prescription and identity, the police personnel will avail a flat 25 per cent discount on all medicines.
The scheme will be initially implemented in the four cities as a pilot project and depending on its success, it would be rolled out to the entire state, said Mr Narayan.
“The police force is known to work under a high stress environment, and digitising records will help in much better management and monitoring of their health,” said Dharmil Sheth, co-founder and director of the online pharmacy.
With digitisation, the policemen can not only access it easily from the cloud, but also manage their health better. There are several other features installed in the app such as one reminding the user about taking their dose, etc.
