Commuters on CST fast line face 75 delays

Commuters on the fast line towards CST on Tuesday saw delays after the engine of the Sinhagad Express failed between Diva and Parsik tunnel.

Commuters on the fast line towards CST on Tuesday saw delays after the engine of the Sinhagad Express failed between Diva and Parsik tunnel. The line was shut down from 9.25 am to 10.41 am causing 12 services to be cancelled and 75 services to be delayed.

Officials said that it took time to start up the motor of the train as it works a little differently. “We had to send a man down from Kurla to Diva and that took us time. Secondly, these trains are huge and bulky are not as light as the local trains that run on the Mumbai suburban,” said an official on the condition of anonymity.

Several office goers were stuck in trains that were held up behind the Sinhagad Express. Forty-two-year-old Ashok Kamble who had left from Kalyan said that his train was travelling right behind the Express train. “I got stuck somewhere between 9.35 to 10 am when I finally decided to get down and walk all the way to Mumbra and catch a fast train. This has become a routine thing on the fast line now and its become harder and harder to reach home or officer without being subjected to severe delays,” said Mr Kamble.
