Emphasising on the importance of conserving and exhibiting the country’s ancient culture, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday said those who do no know the country’s rich culture and history do not have a future.

“Those who do not know about the India’s rich culture and history may have a present but certainly no future. One has to understand our ancient coins, notes and stamps to understand our culture better. Our ancient currencies help us in understanding what we were and time plays a very important role in replicating us a picture of days back in those times,” said Mr Fadnavis.

Mr Fadnavis was addressing a gathering at the inauguration of an online museum where he spoke about vintage stamps, currency notes and coins in the backdrop of the 25th anniversary of Shukla Day marked as an annual exhibition on coins, currencies and vintage stamps. S.M. Shukla was instrumental in inspiring generations of collectors and numismatic scholars.

Mr Fadnavis further said, “I feel that coins and currencies are part of our rich cultural heritage and history. Looking back at them makes us nostalgic.”

“In our country we do not get the opportunity to preserve, conserve and exhibit the rare ancient work and such kind of exhibitions serve as a medium to once again start with it,” Mr Fadnavis added.

The online museum named mintageworld.com is a home for those who love collecting ancient currencies, notes and stamps. It is home for all those from all over the world who like to read about the ancient history on the hobby about collecting old coins and currencies.

It allows each individual to contribute their write-ups for their collection of old coins and stamps.
